Carl Wayne “Corky” Pelfrey, 95, Altus, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Altus City Cemetery with Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Burial will be under the care of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Corky was born on July 13, 1925 in Altus, Oklahoma to Joseph and Mary (Mobley) Pelfrey. He married Betty Sumrall in Altus on May 23, 1948. Corky was an experienced carpenter and owned cabinet shops in Altus and Tipton, Oklahoma for several years. He worked as a civil engineer at Altus Air Force Base before his retirement. Corky had a passion for genealogy and a love for woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; daughter, Carla Lowry; parents, Joseph and Mary; sister, Melba Duncan; brother, Edwin Pelfrey; and one son-in-law, Robert “Bob” Hawk.
Corky is survived by his daughter, D’Anne Hawk; son, Gary Pelfrey; son-in-law James William “Jay” Lowry; seven grandchildren, Christian Pelfrey, Kasie Dobson, Kari Pucci, Kyle Laing, Gary Pelfrey, Jr., Brian Hawk and Brook Singh; twenty great grandchildren, Destiny Umbarger, Sky and Christian Pelfrey, Jr., Ashlyn, Audrey and Cody Dobson, Alexis, Colton, Mason and Aiden Pucci, Sydney and Trinity Laing, Ethan and Emily Sweat, Kyleah, Devin and Trevor Pelfrey, Logan and Ashlyn Hawk and Saelor Singh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at Kincannon Funeral Home.
