Alice Elane Orr, 84, Altus, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015 at her home. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Alice was born on February 15, 1931 in Weleetka, Oklahoma to Vernon Wesley and Anna Laura (Gibson) Lemons. She was the oldest of eight kids. She grew up in the Wewoka, Oklahoma area and graduated from Butner High School in 1950. While in school, she was known for her basketball skills. Her team won the Little River Conference Tournament Title and she also broke the tournament scoring record that year. Alice was also named to the Seminole County Dream Team in 1950. She worked as an assistant manager for the S & H Green Stamp store in Altus for many years. After that, she worked for the Social Security office and the Altus Senior Citizens Center. Alice was a member of the First Baptist Church. When she couldn't go to church, she watched it faithfully on the television. Alice had a strong faith in the Lord and shared that with those she loved. She loved working in the yard and especially with her roses. Her biggest love was her grandchildren and her family. Her parents, a brother, Dale Lemons, and two sisters, Lois Streater and Dorothy Turner, preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Valdez and husband, Xavier, of Altus, OK and Robin Schubert and husband, Mike, of Valdosta, GA; three grandchildren, Joy Weathers and husband, Mike, of Las Vegas, NM, Wesley Burkhalter and wife, Jenny, of Valdosta, GA and Robert Burkhalter and wife, Christy, of Valdosta, GA; two great grandchildren, Sydney and Naomi Weathers; two sisters, Virginia Bicknell of Wewoka, OK and Peggy Lemons of Smyrna, GA; two brothers, Winford Lemons and wife, Rugena, of McLoud, OK and Jerry Lemons and wife, Jeannie, of Wewoka, OK; and numerous other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Television Ministry.
