Alvin Durant "Mac" McInnis, 93, Altus, passed away Tuesday October 17, 2017 at the English Village Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Alvin Durant McInnis was born January 2, 1924 to Samuel and Mayfair (Welch) McInnis in Wellington, Texas. He graduated from Wellington High School, then attended two years at Droughns Business College in Wichita Falls, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp March 24, 1943 and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant January 24, 1946. While serving his country he earned the American Theater Campaign Medal; Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars; Philippine Liberation Ribbon; Good Conduct Medal; Victory Ribbon and 3 Overseas Service Bars. Mac and Helen Adkins were united in marriage on October 12, 1946 in Wellington, Texas. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on April 19, 2011. He was a banker in Wellington, TX; Clayton, NM; Las Vegas, NM and Guymon, Oklahoma. Mac retired in 1987 after serving thirty five years in the banking industry, then, in 1990, the McInnis family moved to Altus. Mac was a member of the First Baptist Church; a life time member of the VFW; Lions Club and Elks Lodge. He also enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting, and camping.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Mac leaves behind his daughter, Sandra James and husband Ernie; two grandchildren, Tricia Stotler and husband Wes, and Brad Osburg; four great grandchildren, Zack Stotler, Lauren Stotler, Avery Osburg and Emma Osburg; niece Nancy Heflin and husband, Rodney; nephew, Danny Holder and wife, Robbie; sister-in-law Ellen Holder and several great-nieces, great nephews and many friends.
The family requests memorials be made to the Southwest Technology Foundation.
The McInnis family will greet friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday evening at the Kincannon Gathering Room.
