Andy Ray Phillips, 68, longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2024, with family by his side. He was just a few days shy of his 69th birthday. Inurnment is scheduled for 9:00 AM on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Fort Sill National Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by The United States Army. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Andy was born on July 21, 1955, in Altus. He was a Eugene Field Squirrel, Will Roger's Bronco for a short time, Northeast Junior High Husky, and Altus Bulldog Class of 1973. Upon graduation from Altus High School, Andy joined the United States Army. He was such a free spirit, and he was loved by all that knew him. The family truly appreciates the phone calls and posts about the family’s loss from Earl, Lori, and Rita. They truly have helped in remembering the loss of our dear brother, Andy Ray Phillips. He is truly pain free and is free from suffering. When visiting my brother last week, he was in good spirits and was his usual self, laughing with two of the grandchildren as they were pulling some shenanigans on each other. He was himself right up to the end laughing and cracking jokes. We will carry the love for rock and roll in our hearts and we will remember you when we listen to it. Bless you brother, we will miss you every day!
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Travis Phillips and Virginia Eileen (Southall) Phillips; and brother, Travis Wayne Phillips. He is survived by his sons, Andy Buchanan and Arron Phillips; daughters, Debra Haskin and Heidi Buchanan Wall; brothers, Bobby Phillips, Timmy Phillips and wife, Brenda, and Tommy Phillips and wife, Debra; sisters, Marilyn Kay Hanson and Carolyn Mae Webb; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
