Anthony Wayne DeFord, 32, of Altus, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at his home in Altus. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow with military honors in the Veterans Section of the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Anthony was born May 19, 1983 to Russell and Ann (Lohnes) DeFord in Houma, Louisiana. He attended school in Peoria, Illinois, moved to Altus at the age of thirteen and graduated from Altus High School in 2001. Anthony entered the United States Army in November of 2001. He served in combat with the War Eagle Squadron in Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was inducted into the 1st Squadron, 2nd Regiment of Dragoons "Order Of The Spur." SPC DeFord earned the Army Achievement Award and the Elite Master of the Bradley (tank). He was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army October 31, 2007. Anthony enjoyed listening to music; his dogs; fishing; riding motorcycles; reading and spending time with family, especially during holidays.
Anthony is preceded in death by his grandfather, Harvey DeFord. He is survived by his parents, Russell and Ann DeFord; half brother, Kyle Caudill; paternal grandmother, who raised him like her son, Dorothy DeFord; maternal grandparents, Audrey and David Lohnes; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
