Anthony L. “Butch” Elliott, 69, of Altus, passed away at his home Thursday night, March 28, 2013. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tim Hardyman and Chaplain Erin Martinez officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Anthony L. Elliott was born on August 26, 1943 in Altus, Oklahoma to Tony and Bonnie Lee (Busby) Elliott. He attended the Altus Schools and graduated in 1961. Mr. Elliott joined the United States Air Force on March 23, 1966 and served in the Vietnam Theater with tours in Guam and Okinawa. He worked as a munitions handler on B-52s and was a member of the Honor Guard. He was honorably discharged on January 27, 1970 as a Staff Sergeant. Mr. Elliott attended the OSU Technology Center in Okmulgee, OK and many Mack Truck and Robert Bosch Training Schools. He was a certified Mack diesel mechanic and fuel injector pump specialist for 50 years. Butch married Laveta Jo Bonds on December 27, 1962 in Duke, OK. She preceded him in death. He later married Carol L. Keswater Whitt on April 7, 1990 in Lubbock, Texas. He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene and loved God, his wife, family and his country. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He moved back to Altus, OK in 1990 to realize his lifelong dream of farming and raising cattle. Butch will be remembered as a loving family man and by always being kind and fair. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Laveta. Butch is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; two daughters, Bobbie Jo Fowler of Lubbock, TX, and Sheila Bentley and husband, Terry, of Altus, OK; three sons, Tony Elliott and wife, Kim, of Lubbock, TX, Benny Whitt and wife, Carla, of Blanchard, OK, and Perry Whitt and wife, Dustie, of San Antonio, TX; fourteen grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday, April 1, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Jackson County Memorial Hospital Hospice, 1208 E. Tamarack Road, Altus, Oklahoma 73521 in honor of Butch. Additional parking for the funeral will be behind the funeral home, Best Western to the south and Western Sizzlin’ to the north.
