Armando P. Reyes, Sr., age 72, of Altus, Oklahoma, and formerly of Hollis, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023. Armando was born on June 14, 1951 in Abernathy, Texas to Nabor and Adelaida (Palacios) Reyes. Armando grew up in Hollis. On March 18, 1976 Armando married Mary Gloria Rivera in Altus and they enjoyed 14 years of marriage. Blending their families, they raised three children, Eduardo, Armando Jr., and Amy. Armando worked as a press operator for many years at the Altus Cotton Gin through 1989. In December 1990 he was widowed when Gloria passed away.
He later met Celia Huerta and they married in Altus on April 24, 1993 and they enjoyed 25 years of marriage. From this union came a child, Angelica. Blending their families together Armando gained three daughters, Mia, Brigida, and Lisa. In April 2018, he was widowed when Celia passed away.
Armando was a member of Strong Tower Ministries in Altus. His joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved very much. He was always calling his family and friends to crack jokes, get the latest chisme, and just to make sure everyone was ok. Armando also enjoyed going to the casino to play his “Lucky Duck” slot machines, listening to his Tejano music, mowing lawns, having a good meal, and watching his favorite teams The Dallas Cowboys and OU Sooners!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nabor and Adelaida Reyes; and his brothers, Reynulfo Reyes and Rudy Reyes, Sr. Those left to cherish Armando’s memories are two sons, Armando Reyes, Jr. and wife, Kristy of Ft. Worth, Texas and Eduardo Prieto and wife, Traci of Fort Mill, South Carolina; five daughters, Amy Reyes and Ralph Barker, Jr. of Altus, Angelica Viruegas and husband, A.J. of Altus; Mia Kuehne and husband, James of Fortson, Georgia, Brigida De La Rosa and husband, Sebastian of Fort Worth, Texas, and Lisa Hixson and husband, Joey of Altus; two sisters, Obelia Martinez of Lawton and Amelia Martinez of Altus; two brothers, Raymond Reyes of Abilene, Texas and Richard Reyes and wife, Kim of Lawton; twelve grandchildren, Selena Stanfield, Matthew Kuehne, Ayshlei Huerta, JaVon Bostic, Josiah Hixson, Caleb Hixson, Celeste Reyes, Janessa De La Rosa, Jalysa De La Rosa, Sebastian De La Rosa, IV, Gianna De La Rosa, and Audemar Bradford; four great-grandchildren, Aubree Huerta, J’ty Huerta, Aurora Huerta, and Hailie Hair; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home in Altus from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 6, 2023.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Pastor Richard Reyes officiating. Burial will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
