Arvel Lee “Dan” Daniel, 83, Altus, OK, passed away Thursday morning, January 10, 2013 at the Bridges Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Mike Merritt officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Dan was born on January 2, 1930 to Arvel M. and Lola (Graham) Daniel in Frederick, Oklahoma. He graduated from Frederick High School. Dan married Mary E. Fleming on September 11, 1948 in Frederick, OK. Mary passed away on October 16, 2012. He served his country in the United States Air Force from January 27, 1947 until his retirement on June 1, 1971. He worked as a police officer while in the Air Force, and continued his law enforcement career for several years after his retirement. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge #62 in Altus, OK. He enjoyed computers, watching Dallas Cowboy football, guns, and being with his family and friends. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary, a grandson, Paul Arvel Gittings, and two brothers, Robert and Wayne Daniel. He is survived by two daughters, Katherine Sue Myers and husband, Gary, of Blair, OK, and Denise Ann Marshal and husband, James, of Yukon, OK; one son, Russell Lee Daniel and wife, Nancy, of Little Elm, TX; six grandchildren, Brian Gittings of Oklahoma City, OK, Christine Marshall Ballard and husband, Brent, of Wautauga, TX, Amy Marshall of Oklahoma City, OK, Susan Marshall of Crowder, OK, James Marshall and wife, Danielle, of Hubert, NC, and Jonathon Marshall of Norfolk, Virginia; and six great grandchildren, Rachel, Crystal, Natalie, Conrad, Lily and James, Jr. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the funeral home.
