Arvel Lee Rutledge, 83, Oklaunion, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 12, 2017 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the Eastside Baptist Church, Vernon, with Curt Rutledge, Sr. officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Eastview Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.
Arvel Lee Rutledge was born on April 19, 1933 in Roscoe, Texas to Jim and Minnie (Reed) Rutledge. He served in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955 during the Korean War and was honorably discharge as a Corporal. He married Johnnie Dunn on May 31, 1960 in Vernon, Texas. Arvel worked as a truck driver all of his life. He loved fishing and was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church. Arvel enjoyed his music ministry and loved traveling all over singing in many churches and nursing homes.
His parents, grandson, Russell Rutledge, and four brothers and sisters, Herman, Clara, Audeen and Idoma, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Johnnie, of the home; a son, Curt Rutledge, Sr. and wife, Betha; a daughter, Sherri Fiscus and husband, Russ; five grandchildren, Curt Rutledge, Jr. and wife, Ana, Nicholas Rutledge, Hannah Rutledge, Staci Najera and husband, Mickylee, and Ryan Layton; 11 great grandchildren; and many other nieces and nephews.
Viewing will start Wednesday afternoon at the Eastside Baptist Church and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday.
