Audrey Louise “Holley” Cummins was born on January 8, 1920 to William E. and Clyde (Thompson) Holley in Sheffield, Alabama. Holley had an older sister, Omie Erwin Ware. At the age of eleven, she moved with her family to La Feria, Texas, where her father grew fruit, was a real estate, barbered and served as Mayor of his town for many years. She graduated from Texas A & I in Kingsville, Texas in 1941 with her Bachelor’s of Art in Music. She taught music for a year and then married her college sweetheart, Frank Roger Cummins, who was a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps, at the Tyler Street Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas on March 7, 1943. Holley and Frank lived in many places over the years, including four overseas assignments to Germany, Spain, the Philippine Islands and Saudi Arabia. She enjoyed her travels all over Europe, the Middle East and the Far East. She was an accomplished bridge player and an avid golfer in her younger days, even scoring a hole-in-one. She also loved to volunteer her time to many different organizations. Although she lived in many different places, she never forgot her southern roots. Her favorite dessert, and that of her family, has always been Southern Pecan Pie and Banana Cream Pie. Holley was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Corpus Christi, Texas and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Altus. Her parents, husband and her older sister, Omie Ware, preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Holley Urbanski and husband, Joe, of Altus, Oklahoma and Peggy Smith and husband, Tony, of McKinney, Texas; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Jacome and husband, Kenny, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Melissa Smith and husband, Zach, of Longmont, Colorado, and Frank and Ian Smith, both of McKinney, Texas; four great grandchildren, Jacob, Isabella and Alexandra Jacome, and Holden Smith; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Nicol of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Mary Louise Mallard of Lake Worth, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 208 E. Cypress, Altus, OK 73521, or the First Presbyterian Church, 430 S. Carancahua St., Corpus Christi, TX 78401.
