Barbara Jean Holt

Barbara Jean Holt, 71, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Great Plains Regional Hospital in Elk City, OK. Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 17, 2011, at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Al Davis officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Barbara Jean Thomas was born September 17, 1939 to Arthur C. and Ella Mae (Curtis) Thomas at Steele, MO. She graduated from Caruthersville High School, Caruthersville, Missouri, in 1957. She married Otho Holt on December 27, 1956 at Hernando, Mississippi. She was an Air Force wife who enjoyed raising her family and traveling the world. Mr. Holt preceded her in death in September of 1989. After being widowed, Barbara married Chuck Paluso in 2005. Mr. Paluso passed away in May of 2009. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She attended the First Baptist Church in Altus after the First Christian Church burned down. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, boating, traveling, reading, sewing and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two sisters, Betty Moore and Faye Burchard, and a brother-in-law, Jerry Greer. She is survived by one daughter, Karen Ballerini of Livermore, CA; two sons, Gregg Holt of Altus, OK, and Barry Holt and wife, Amy, of Altus, OK; seven grandchildren, Camryn Holt, Kinsey Holt, Andrew (A.J.) Ballerini, Matthew Ballerini, Dylan Holt, Lane Holt, and Lance Holt; and one great-grandson, Gavin Holt; two brothers, Benny Thomas and wife, Pat, of Blytheville, AR, and Gary Thomas and wife, Gledia, of Paragould, AR; two sisters, Lois Greer of Caruthersville, MO, and Linda Toler of Johnson City, TN; five sisters-in-law, Betty Dorley of Phoenix, AZ, Judy Jones of Atlanta, GA, Nancy Luckett of Baton Rouge, LA, Virginia Holt of Carbondale, IL, and Dorothy Omer of Lexington, KY. The Holt family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Kincannon Funeral Home.
