Bennie Lee Alexander, 87, Altus, passed away on Wednesday morning, July 26, 2017. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. De Wayne Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Bennie Lee Alexander was born on January 24, 1930 to Elize and Era Minnie Mae (Dannel) Alexander in Daingerfield, Texas. Bennie and Jurlene Jones were united in marriage on June 22, 1957 in Vernon, Texas. He worked for the City of Altus for thirty five years and was a member of the Church of God In Christ. Bennie was the Pastor at Mt. Zion Church of God In Christ for several years. He enjoyed reading, singing, playing the organ and keyboard. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and was always excited with their visits.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Joe Nathan Alexander; baby sister, Mary Jean; and brothers, L.J., Tommy and Isaac and Robert.
Bennie is survived by his best friend and wife, Jurlene; children, Vicky Van Alexander and wife Tameka, Arealia Alexander, Larneathea Alexander, Wendi Jakubiak, Ida Miller, and Nena Alexander and husband, James Morgan; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby Lee Watts, Ida Meryl Smith and Era Mae Black; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edward and Marci Jones, Ethel Louise Jones, and James and Loretta Laws, J.C. and Joanne Jones and Earnest Ray Jones; and many other family and friends.
The Alexander family will greet friends Friday from 6 to 8:00 pm, Friday, July 28 at the Kincannon Gathering Room.
