Apostle Bernice Sneed, 66, Altus, died Sunday, September 12, 2010 in Oklahoma City, OK. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Kincannon Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Prophetess Bonita Massenburg and Prophet Marcus West officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Bernice West was born December 31, 1943 in Temple, Oklahoma to Marcus N. West, Sr. and Jerlene (Lee) West. She attended Lincoln School in Altus. She married James Sneed on October 12, 1977 in Altus. She was a member of the New Beginnings Full Gospel Ministries with a New Hope. She was head of Believing In Women Alliance and Widows Outreach Ministry in Altus. She was a writer for her monthly church newsletter; served as church treasurer and was the assistant choir director. She was a professional Gospel Singer with “The West Sisters” and had recorded two albums. She enjoyed bowling, singing, going to garage sales, ministering to others, spending time with kids and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond West and Matthew Nathaniel West. She is survived by her husband, James Sneed; four daughters, Bonita Massenburg of Altus, OK; Marilyn Massenburg and fiancé Kevin Harris of Altus, OK; ShaVanta Lewis and fiancé Vernon Sutton of Lawton, OK; Adrain Cisco and husband Bryan of Kileen, TX; an adopted daughter, Carla Bush and her children; two sons, James A Sneed of Crawford, TX; Avery Reid and wife Bridgette of Duncanville, TX; five sisters, Pastor Charlene Walker and husband Leroy of Altus, OK; Lillie Reed and husband LTC Harry Reed of Elgin, S.C; Wilda Holzmer and husband Dave of Fort Worth, TX; Bettie Tubbs of Elgin, S.C; Katie Edwards of Lawton, OK; three brothers, Kenneth West of Altus, OK; Marcus Tyrone West, Jr. and wife Sharon of Altus, OK; James Ray West and wife Jackie of Columbus, GA; sixteen grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and many friends. The Sneed Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday evening at Kincannon Funeral Home.
