Betty H. Ottinger, 88, Altus, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation services have been entrusted to the Kincannon Funeral Home. Betty Harris was born on March 30, 1926 to Paul A. and Willa Maude (Inlow) Harris in Kansas City, Missouri. Betty and Lester Edward Ottinger were united in marriage on May 16, 1945 in Douglas, Arizona. She worked as the secretary for the Cheyenne Mountain High School for twenty two years in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She also served as secretary for the Keep San Antonio Beautiful for fifteen years. After their retirement, Betty and Lester moved to Lawton, where they became active members of Western Hills Christian Church. When Betty moved to Altus she became a member of the First United Methodist Church. She loved singing and listening to music, reading and doing handwork and needlepoint. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Paul A. Harris, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Thurgood of Altus, OK; a son, Kurt Ottinger and wife, Val, of Streamwood, IL; four grandchildren, Jessica Lankford and husband, Kirtis, of Hobart, OK, Jeanette Thurgood of Altus, OK, Zachary Ottinger and wife, Prae, of Naperville, IL and Olivia Ottinger of Streamwood, IL; two great-grandchildren, Alexanna and Ashton Lankford; and a brother, Dan Harris and wife, Coleen, of Enid, OK.
