Billy Franklin Breeding, 91, passed away at his home in Altus, Oklahoma, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, October 14, 2022. Services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Daniel Ingram officiating. Billy Franklin “Bill” Breeding was born on June 16, 1931 in Cookeville, Tennessee to Jere B. and Dona E. (Brown) Breeding. His family relocated to Oklahoma, and he attended school in Granite, graduating with the class of 1950. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from 1951 – 1954 at Lackland Air Force Base. Bill attended the Oklahoma State Technical Institute at Okmulgee and received certifications in auto mechanics and automatic transmissions. Bill met Ada ‘Jane’ Williams at church in early 1962. They married on October 20, 1962 in Beaver, Oklahoma and made their home in Altus. Bill began making a name for himself as an auto mechanic, first working at Hamilton’s Garage then later, as an aircraft mechanic at Altus Airforce Base. He received various commendations during his 32 years of service before his retirement in 1994.

Bill and Jane joined the Elm & Hudson Church of Christ in January of 1963. They were faithful members and Bill volunteered for 28 years maintaining and repairing the fleet of vans for the church. The church leadership awarded Bill the “Goodwrench Award” in 2000 for his many years of dedication. Bill continued the bus ministry by driving a route on Sunday mornings to provide transportation to elderly members so that they could still attend worship. Bill never sat still until later years and was most happy when he was repairing things. He and Jane enjoyed working together around the house and maintaining their yard to perfection.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jere and Dona; grandson, Grant DeHoogh; brothers, Gene, Sam, and Doyle Breeding; sister, Sue Dempsey; and sisters-in-law, Jean Breeding and Betty Breeding.
Those left to honor Billy’s memory are his bride of almost 60 years, Jane; daughter, Janet Elaine DeHoogh and husband, Jeff; son, Keith Franklin Breeding and wife, Heather; five grandchildren, Lauren Pendergrass, Matt DeHoogh, and Kylie, Ashleigh, and Abby Breeding; four great grandchildren, Madeline, Audrey, Molly, and Rose Pendergrass; siblings, Bob Breeding and wife, Beth, Max Breeding and wife, Melba, and Wendell Breeding; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
