Billy John Drury, 93, passed away at his home in Moore, Oklahoma on Monday, November 20, 2023. Graveside services are set for 2:00 PM on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Boggy Cemetery southwest of Olustee with Brad Pryor officiating and full military honors rendered by the United States Air Force. Burial is under the care of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation.
Billy John was born on October 22, 1930, in Olustee, Oklahoma to Wiley Oscar and Martha (Willeford) Drury. After high school he obtained an associate of art degree from Oscar Rose Community College in Oklahoma City. Billy John married Melva States on May 1, 1959, in Oklahoma City and to this union two daughters were born, Pamela and Michele. He joined the United States Air Force and faithfully served his country for 20 years; retiring as a Master Sergent in 1972. Billy John went on to work for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections as an accountant. He was actively involved in Toastmasters, multiple choirs, Meals on Wheels, and the Methodist Men’s group. Billy John enjoyed gardening, completing puzzles, and reading.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Oscar and Martha; and siblings, Octava Felty, Jack Alton Drury, Nelva Jo Fancher, Jean Hestand, and Wiley “Red” Drury. Those left to honor Billy John’s memory are his wife of 64 years, Melva; daughters, Pamela Truitt and Michele Craddock and husband, David; grandchildren, David Truitt and wife, Andrea, Daniel Truitt, Amy McCauslin and husband, Mitchell, Troy Craddock, and Jamie Moore and husband, Shane; great grandchildren, Morgan Truitt, Michael Truitt, Trey Truitt, Jordan Truitt, Caitlyn Truitt, Cora McCauslin, Chloe McCauslin, Jaslene Moore, and Lane Moore; and great-great grandchildren, Judah, Willow, and Chelon; siblings, Laveda Drury Wagon McKinney and husband, Jimmy, Mary Frost Whittenburg Dahlin and husband, Darrell, and Henry K. Drury and wife, Judy; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
