Billy Harvel Kenmore, 94, passed away at his home southwest of Duke on Monday, November 28, 2022. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, December 1, 2022 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Prairie Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Billy Harvel Kenmore was born on November 26, 1928 in Prairie Hill, Oklahoma to Harvel Henry and Effie Elizabeth (Black) Kenmore. He grew up in Olustee and graduated high school with the Class of 1948. After high school, he served his country in the US Navy. He married Betty Weasline Talley on June 11, 1950 in Altus. Billy was a farmer, rancher, and horseman all his life and loved what he did. He worked for Western Welding and Sooner Airgas for many years before retiring. He couldn’t stay retired so he went to work for Fox’s Building Supply and worked there for 15 years before finally retiring. He was a longtime member of the Lion’s Club and was President of the Chapter for several years. Billy was a founding member of the Red River Riders, which was formed in 1960, where he served as the first president. In 1964, District 151 of the American Sheriff’s Posses and riding club was formed where he was President from 1964-1966 and Vice-President in 1967. In 2005, the Grand National Horseman Association, formally the American Sheriff Posses, presented a lifetime membership to Billy and his wife for their work and commitment. He cherished and loved the time spent with his son and grandchildren. Billy, along with his wife, loved their time spent traveling many hours and miles to various events, from playdays and rodeos, to softball and basketball games.
His parents; wife; a sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Darrell Killian; and a nephew, Zack Morgan, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son, Billy Wayne Kenmore; four granddaughters, Ty Darby and husband, Drew, Shawn Porter and husband, Spencer, Haylee Kenmore, and Josey Kenmore; seven great grandchildren, Harland and Haize Darby, Dalton and Reagan Porter, Ashton Polk, and Sara Jo and Cody Tate Morris; two nieces, Tonya Worbes and husband, Fred, and Judy Richeson and husband, David; a cousin, Cole Morgan and wife, Amanda; and many other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the Kincannon Funeral Home.
