Billy R. Parker, 74, of Altus, OK, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at English Village Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rod Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Billy R. Parker was born August 19, 1936 to John and Ethel (Kirkley) Parker in Waldron, Arkansas. He graduated from Poteau High School, in Poteau, OK. In 1954, Bill joined the Navy and received medical training while in the service. Bill married Martha Ann Scott in Coldwater, Mississippi on August 26, 1962. He received his Associates Degree from Western Oklahoma State College. He retired from Jackson County Memorial Hospital where he worked as a Medical Technician for over forty years. Bill was a member of the American Medical Technologists, American Society for Clinical Pathology, on the Board of American Red Cross and the Board of Southwest Oklahoma Action Group. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church. He was an avid OU Sports Fan and enjoyed reading the newspaper. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, J.W. Parker and Charles Parker. He is survived by his wife, Martha, of the home; two sons, Terry Parker and wife, Debbie, of Waukomis, OK, and Scott Parker and wife, Lezlie, of Sidney, NE; one sister, Betty McCullough and husband, Jim, of Sheridan, WY; one sister–in–law, Betty Turner and husband, Jimmy, of Sardis, MS; one brother-in–law, Bobby Scott and wife, Polly, of Natchez, MS; seven grandchildren, Ashley MeNear and husband, Ryan, of Moore, OK, Stephanie Parker of Hennessey, OK, Autumn Parker of Waukomis, OK, Lindsay Parker of Altus, OK, Brandon Parker of Castle Rock, CO, Levi Burrows of Altus, and Michael Derr and wife, Veronica, of Anchorage, AK; six great-grandchildren, Hayden McNear, Jaryn Dowell, Aubree Derr, Jasmine Derr, Michael Derr, Jr. and Xavier Derr; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2010 at Kincannon Funeral Home. The family has requested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1320 N.W. Homestead Drive, Lawton, OK 73505.
