Carolyn A. Johnston

Carolyn A. Johnston, 83, Altus, passed away Monday evening, February 22, 2016 in Altus. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, February 29, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Player officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Carolyn A. Sproll was born December 26, 1932 in Wellington, Illinois to Herbert and Sadie Ann (Evans) Sproll. She graduated from Wellington High School in Illinois in 1950. She married the love of her life, Jimmie W. Johnston, on May 25, 1952 in Wellington, Illinois. To this union, three children were born, Mark, Marlon and Clark. Carolyn was a homemaker and a supportive military wife of Mr. Johnston. Jimmie and Carolyn were rarely seen apart, and in their retirement years, enjoyed traveling and RV'ing. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church and loved her church family dearly. She was also an ardent Oklahoma City Thunder fan.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmie; infant son, Mark; infant granddaughter, Amber; and a brother.
Survivors include her two sons, Lt. Colonel (Retired) Marlon Wayne Johnston and wife, Maryanne, and Clark Dwaine Johnston, five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Youth Program, 317 N. Main Street, Altus, OK 73521.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
