Catherine Mae “Cathy” Goss was born on June 10, 1966 in Altus, Oklahoma to Billy Gene Goss and Virginia Mae (Sanders) Holder. She was raised in Oklahoma and California, graduating with the Class of 1984 from Shawnee. Cathy married Mike Payne on May 15, 1989 in Vernon, Texas. In her early years Cathy could always be found in the shop or at the racetrack helping her father. That love for racing carried on into her later years, always helping her sons in the garage and supporting their love for racing. She worked in the medical field all her life, including Administrator of The Courtyard at Magnolia Creek Memory Care Assisted Living. Cathy was well known for her compassion with patients and their families, and she made a difference in many lives throughout her career. She was an avid OU fan, enjoyed camping, playing Bingo and Bunko, traveling, watching game shows, stock car racing, naps in the recliner, and especially caring for others, her family and spoiling grandbabies. Cathy gave selflessly for those she loved and will always be remembered for her dedication and unconditional love to each she adored.
She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Goss; stepfather, Benny Holder; and sister, Shelly Goss-Pickens. Those left to honor Cathy’s memory are her husband, Mike Payne; sons, James Payne and wife, Martha and Mikey Payne, Jr. and wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Dustyn, Makenzi, Bentley, and Bristol; mother, Virginia Holder; brother, William Goss and wife, Ladonna; sister, Carla Kinman and husband, Jeremy; and many other family and friends.
