Charles A. Cox, 86, of Altus, passed into the arms of our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Bridges Skilled Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 16, 2018 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Usher officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Charles graced this world with his presence on September 30, 1931 in Olustee, Oklahoma to Ophus Leonard and Myrtle (Bradley) Cox. He grew up in the Olustee and Altus areas and attended the Victory School. He married Juanita Robertson and to this union two children, Gerry and Terry, were born. Charles then married Linda Tinney on March 10, 1971 in Fort Worth, Texas. To this union two children, Larry and James, were born. He worked as a carpenter for most of his life and loved woodworking. He taught all his sons the trade and hard work ethic. He was a devoted family man and was the happiest surrounded by his family.
His parents, three sisters, Gladys Payne, Helen Ward and Dorothy Butler, and a brother, Leonard Cox, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, of the home; four sons, Gerry Key and Darla, and Terry Cox and Debra, all of Granbury, TX, Larry Cox and Tiffany of Cushing, OK and James Cox and Monica of Altus, OK; 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Maxey of Amarillo, TX and Gelene Riddle of Abilene, TX; and a special friend, John McMahan.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
