Clyde Harold Blackwood, 94, Altus, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the VA Center in Lawton, Oklahoma. Cremation services have been entrusted to Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Clyde was born November 10, 1924 to Robert and Mary Blackwood in Mena, Arkansas. He served his country in the United States Navy from January 13, 1944 until he was honorably discharged on May 12, 1946. Clyde worked as a meteorologist for many years with the National Weather Service. He and Mabel Block were united in marriage on August 29, 1989 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Clyde was also a commercial pilot with single, multiple and instrument ratings, as well as instructor ratings. Clyde was a Mason for over 50 years; was a life member of four Masonic lodges in three states; held the Scottish Rite 32nd Degree; and was a life member of the Shriners and the Eastern Star.
Clyde is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Paul Blackwood. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Mabel, of the home; two daughters, Linda Ferrantella and Robin Blackwood; four brothers, Glenn, John, Wallace, Ralph and two half brothers, Henry and Bill.
The Blackwood Family will host a Celebration of Life service and inurnment of his cremated remains at a later date.
