Cody L. Huckaby

December 10, 1966 — March 22, 2018

Cody L. Huckaby, 51, Sayre, formerly of Altus, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018 near Sayre, Oklahoma as a result of a vehicle accident. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2018 at Kincannon Funeral Home. Burial will follow services at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Cody Lynn Huckaby was born December 10, 1966 in Altus, Oklahoma to Billy Ray and Shirley (Carroll) Huckaby. He attended Altus Public Schools and graduated from Altus High School with the class of 1985. He continued his education at WOSC and attained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Cameron University. He earned his Master of Arts in Education and Administration from Southwestern State University of Oklahoma in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Cody and Stephanie Hernandez were united in marriage on August 21, 2009 in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Cody taught school at Sunset Elementary School for many years; was assistant principal at Rivers Elementary; was Altus Intermediate School P. E. Coach; was director of the Altus Adult Education program; was principal of Granite Elementary School; was principal of Mangum Elementary School; was assistant principal of Cordell Elementary School and was currently Principal of Sayre Elementary School.

Cody loved education and some of his most valued accomplishments was serving as School Principal. He devoted his life to education. He never forgot his time in the classroom or as a coach. One of his favorite activities over the years was to throw football passes to kids at recess.

Cody was of the Jewish Faith and loved spending time with his family. In fact, Cody was driving back from Colorado, spending time with his daughter, welcoming the birth of his grandson, when the accident happened. Cody truly loved working out in the gym and helping mentor others in body building and life skills. He enjoyed the New England Patriot NFL football team; Oklahoma University Football; Thunder Basketball and all types of other sports. Cody and Stephanie had a special interest in the outdoors, camping and hiking in the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado. He also had a good time doing his Facebook Live shenanigans.

Cody was preceded in death by his father; son, Ryan Huckaby; sister, Gatrina Dickson and his brother, Michael Bryant. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie; daughters, Lindsey Huckaby; Felicity Drewery and wife, Jamie; Corin Gautschi and husband, Stephen; Mahaylee Fixico; his son, Devin Huckaby; two brothers, Olen "Scooter" Huckaby and wife, Chanet; John Bryant and wife, Brandi; grandchildren, Haylin, Tristyn, Aiden and S. J.; a special niece, Twila Ring and many friends.
