Dan Glen Stewart

d. January 4, 2014

Dan Glen Stewart, Altus, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Plantation Village Nursing Home in Altus. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 1301 Falcon Road, Altus, with Rodney Robertson officiating. Cremation services were entrusted to Kincannon Funeral Home in Altus, Oklahoma. Dan Glen Stewart was born in Olustee, OK on July 23, 1939 to Carl H. and Pauline (Medlock) Stewart. He grew up in Altus. In the late 1950’s, Dan moved to Fort Worth and pursued multiple business ventures, such as owner and operator of gas stations, convenient stores, and an insurance agency. Dan also owned and operated the Katy Café in Altus in 1975. Dan married his late wife, Ninfa, in 1962 and raised three children with her for 38 years until she passed away in 2000. On November 25, 2003, Dan found love again and married his lifelong friend, Jean Bennett. Shortly after the wedding, they relocated back to their hometown of Altus. He loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and cherished the time he got to spend with them and relayed more than once that he would like to have all of his children together before his death. Dan became a baptized and dedicated Jehovah’s Witness in 1990 and spent the last 24 years of his life spreading the Good News of God’s Kingdom to the day he took his last breath. Dan will be remembered as an avid Jehovah’s Witness who took advantage of every encounter to express his love for his Creator and His grand plan for mankind. Dan wanted his death to be his last witness to the community of Altus, his family and friends; therefore, his last great expression of love to his God, Jehovah and his son and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Dan believed in Jesus’s words, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life,” John 11:25. He believed everyone in the memorial tombs would rise again (John 5:28, 29) to a peaceful paradise here on earth, where death and sickness will be no more (Revelation 21:3,4). Dan is preceded in death by his parents, wife Ninfa and a brother, Dean Stewart. He is survived by his wife, Jean Bennett of Altus, Ok; two daughters, Pamela Johnson of Denver, CO; Selena Ward of Fort Worth, TX; three sons, Rory Stewart of Woodward, OK; Darren Stewart of Weatherford, TX; Robert Stewart of Fort Worth, TX; two stepdaughters, Cindy Morgan of Altus, OK; Leslie Hughes of Birmingham, AL; one sister, Joyce Payne of Decatur, TX; two brothers, Don Stewart of Decatur, TX; Carl H. Stewart of Woodward, OK; twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The Stewart Family asked that floral tributes be sent to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness by 12:30 Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness.
