Dan Leroy Sheets

Dan Leroy Sheets, 62, Tipton, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at English Village Manor. Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Tipton Church of Christ with Dale Huff and Ken Waugh officiating. Cremation services are under the care of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Dan Leroy Sheets was born on May 10, 1951 in Spearman, Texas to Branch and Mallie (Carter) Sheets. He grew up in Texas and graduated from Lubbock Christian College in 1974 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Chemistry. He married Nancy Rose on February 14, 1976 in Lubbock, Texas. He was a cotton farmer before moving to Tipton, Oklahoma in 1992. Dan started out as a houseparent of nine boys at the Tipton Home. At the time of his retirement in 2010, he was over Plant Operations of the Home. Dan was a member and a deacon at the Tipton Church of Christ. He could build or repair anything from computers and electronics, to vehicles and buildings. His celebration of life will be held on September 21 which is the annual Alzheimer’s World Action Day, to help bring awareness for Alzheimer’s Disease. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of the home; two daughters, Susan Chant and husband, Tray, of Waxahachie, TX, and Elizabeth Martin and husband, Tim, of Lubbock, TX; four grandchildren, Carrie and Emily Chant of Waxahachie, TX, and Isaac and Abby Martin of Lubbock, TX; and a sister, Kay Padon and husband, Rob, of Quinlan, TX.
