David Allen “Pepper” Boone, 75, Altus, passed away in Oklahoma City on Saturday, May 6, 2023. A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at True Life Church, with Rev. Michael Wright officiating. Arrangements and cremation services are under the care of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
David Allen “Pepper” Boone was born on September 21, 1947, in Mangum, Oklahoma, to David Edward and Katherine Elizabeth (Roller) Boone. The family relocated to Southern California, where Pepper completed his high school education at Artesia High School. He played a pivotal role in leading his team to win the baseball state championship, which subsequently caught the attention of a baseball talent scout. After being drafted into the United States Army, he faithfully served his country for two years. Upon honorable discharge, Pepper pursued a career as a surgical technician at Lakewood General Hospital in Lakewood, CA. He returned home to Mangum, OK in 1975 and eventually settled in Altus. Pepper worked as a ground/maintenance technician at Western Oklahoma State College for many years before retirement. He was a faithful member of True Life Church, where he served as a deacon and was active with the bus ministry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Katherine; children, Davey Boone and Candice Boone; and sister, Linda Davis.
Pepper is survived by his brothers, Curtis Boone and wife, Judy, Roger Boone, and Mark Boone; brother-in-law, Grant Davis; nieces and nephews, Daniel Boone and wife, April, Brandon Boone and wife, LeeAnn, Michael Boone and wife, Shannon, Kelsey Evans and husband, Buddy, Brenda Davis, and Gina Davis; and many great nieces and nephews.
