Delbert Dwane Paul, 79, Altus, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011, at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Duree officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Delbert Dwane Paul was born on January 9, 1932 in Ft. Collins, Colorado to Gottlieb and Emma (Deering) Paul. He attended school in Ft. Collins and then joined the United States Air Force in 1951 and served in the Korean War. Delbert married Marieta K. “Rita” McClure on July 1, 1954, while stationed in Altus. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force on July 5, 1955. He owned and operated Paul’s Upholstery from 1964 until 1975. Delbert accepted Christ as his Savior in 1962. He was ordained as a deacon in Southside Baptist Church in 1966. He also served as Bus Ministry Director, Sunday School teacher and church treasurer, as well as serving in many other capacities. Delbert was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking and gardening. He was preceded in the death by his parents, his wife, Rita, a brother and two sisters. Mr. Paul is survived by two sons, Steven Paul of Oklahoma City, OK, and Donald Paul and wife, Jan, of Altus, OK; seven grandchildren, Kyle Paul of Tulsa, OK, Sonja Johns of Oklahoma City, OK, Daniel Paul and wife, Ashley, of San Diego, CA, Kelli Smith and husband, Matt, of Oklahoma City, OK, Staci Rudd and husband, Jeremy, of Oklahoma City, OK, Jessica Edmonds and husband, Brad, of Altus, OK, Eric Paul of Altus, OK; and seven great-grandchildren, Jackson Johns, Honor Paul, Major Edmonds, Logan Rudd, Katie Ann Johns, Charlie Smith, and Ethan Rudd all of Oklahoma City, OK.
