Don Alan Shirley

Don A. Shirley, 69, Van, Texas, passed away Monday evening, July 10, 2017 at Christus Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, Texas. Graveside services with United
States Navy Honor Guard will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Riverside Cemetery, Mangum, Oklahoma with Rev. D. Frame officiating. Services are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Don Alan Shirley was born January 22, 1948 in Altus, Oklahoma to D. A. and Elizabeth (Givens) Shirley. He graduated from Mangum High School in 1967. Don served in the United States Navy, in Vietnam, from 1967 until he was honorably discharged in 1971. He married Shirley J. Russell on April 6, 1989 in Kaufman, Texas. Don owned and operated his pest control business for many years, and was the principal exterminator for Mary Kay Cosmetics in Dallas, Texas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas and enjoyed working his garden and growing flowers.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Julia Beth Osterhout. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; an aunt, Sistie V. Givens Riley and husband, Duane; his brother-in-law, Ron Osterhout; several cousins and many friends.
