Stan Cope, 74, formerly of Altus, passed away peacefully in Oklahoma City on Thursday, August 8, 2024. The family will formally greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home on Friday, August 16th. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Donald Stanley “Stan” Cope was born on April 11, 1950, in Chickasha to Albert and Lucille (Shields) Cope. After graduation Stan served his country for three years when he enlisted into the United States Army. He owned and operated Cope Plumbing and Cope Lawn Sprinklers, steadily serving SW Oklahoma residents for many years. Stan married Sharon Kay Carroll on July 22, 1991, in Las Vegas and they shared almost 30 years together. He was a hot rod enthusiast and enjoyed golfing, traveling in the motor home, and watching movies. His most treasured pastime was watching his grandchildren participate in their activities and spending time with them.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lucille; and brothers, John Cope and Sonny Cope. Those left to honor Stan’s memory are his children, Don Cope and wife, Staci and Shannon Lovett and husband, Scott; grandchildren, Jacob Cope and wife, Jimmie, Allison Canterbury and husband, Macel, Raegan Webb and husband, Hunter, Makenzie Lovett, Sara Lovett, and Gracie Lovett; sister, Elsie Martin, and many other family members and friends.
