Donald E. Lewis, 77, Altus, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. Funeral services with Masonic Rites have been scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Kincannon Memorial Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Donald E. Lewis was born on October 1, 1935 near Sasakwa, Oklahoma to Benjamin Floyd and Gracie May (Burkett) Lewis. Donald attended Vamoosa High School and later obtained his GED. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard and the United States Air Force for a total of 26 years. He served in the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross and other commendation medals. He retired in 1979, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. After military retirement, he stayed busy with construction, rental properties, and establishing Don Lewis Garage Doors, Inc.
Donald married JoAnn Seay on July 2, 1955 in the First Methodist Church at Konawa, Oklahoma. He enjoyed working on machinery, carpentry, investing in the stock market, hunting, vegetable gardening and spending time with his family. Donald was a life member of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, and Masonic Lodge No. 62. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother, Jimmy F. Lewis. Donald is survived by a daughter, Beth Ann Cosgrove of Lawton, OK; and a son, Clayton Ephraim Lewis and wife, Janice, of Southlake, TX; six grandchildren, Brant Brock and wife, Valerie, of Virginia Beach, VA, Trip Brock of Lawton, OK, Hayley Cosgrove of Lawton, OK, Heather Malott and husband, Doug, of Arlington, TX, and Ginger Lewis and Sage Lewis, both of Euless, TX; one great grandson, Holden Brock; a sister, Dasie Lewis and husband, Eddie, of Enid, OK, a sister-in-law, Novella Lewis of Del City, OK; and a host of other family and friends. A visitation will be held at Kincannon Funeral Home at 6:00 PM Friday, February 22, 2013.
