Donald Ross Martin

Donald Ross Martin, 82, Altus, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the Oklahoma Veterans Medical Center in Oklahoma City. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2021 under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Donald Ross Martin was born on August 29, 1938 to Connie Martin Jr. and Alma G. (Chafey) Martin in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Donald grew up and attended school in Tulsa, started his college career at Western Oklahoma State College and completed an Associates of Art Degree from Okmulgee Junior College. Donald joined the United States Air Force in March 1961. Donald met Marita ‘Rita’ Joyce Dodge and they married in November of 1965 in Miami, Oklahoma, later renewing their marriage vows in Altus, Oklahoma on January 13, 1989. After proudly serving his country for 21 years, Donald retired as a Technical Sergeant. He went onto work as an air craft mechanic at Altus Air Force Base. Donald was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching western movies, fishing, camping, traveling and gardening.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Cheryl Avant.

Survivors include his wife, Rita; son David Wayne Martin and wife, Cristi; four grandsons, Jeremy Avant and wife, Yelena, and their son, Liam Martin Avant, Jeremy Perrott and wife, Alicia, Brandon Perrott and wife, B.J., and Reece Moody; two granddaughters, Meleah Martin and Saedi Cain; several great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
