Doris M. Sierer

Doris M. Sierer, 85, Altus, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 3, 2013 at the Olustee Cemetery with Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Services are under the care of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Doris M. VanZant was born on January 1, 1929 in Frederick, Oklahoma to Fred L. and Daisy L. (Carrell) VanZant. She worked for over 20 years for Altus Cab Company and another ten years for the Vernon Youth Center. Doris was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus. She was a very selfless person and volunteered for many organizations including Habitat for Humanity Family Support Group and for the soup kitchen at the Salvation Army. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred VanZant; her mother and stepfather, Daisy and Steve Wallen; a son, Harry Sierer; and three sisters, Juanita Maschmeier, Wilena Hudson and Julia Thomas. Survivors include her daughter, Hermine Nichols and husband, Charles, and their children, Angela and Carlos, all of Headrick, OK; two sons, William T. “Willie” Sierer of Orlando, FL and Cathy Sierer of Dallas, TX and their daughter, Brooke, and Frank Sierer and his three children of Monticello, KY; and a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Altus.
