Doris Marie Chester was born on May 21, 1945, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Lem Jackson and Bernie Ella (Edington) Chester. Her family relocated to Altus when Doris was very young where she attended school.
When David Wayne Maupin landed at Altus Air Force Base he met Doris. The young couple married on April 26, 1963, in Oakhust, Oklahoma and to this union four children were born, Debbie, David Wayne Gordon “Boy”, Denise, and Doug. Doris was a long-time cook at Roberts Drive-In Altus, feeding SW Oklahoma with some of the best burgers and conversation around. She enjoyed watching all kinds of cooking and crime shows, especially 20/20 and Dateline. But her greatest treasure was time spent with her family. Doris passed away at her home in Altus on Sunday, February 2nd, at 79 years young.
Doris had an abundance of love for her family and friendships that formed through her years at Roberts. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, David; son, Boy; daughter-in-law, Lisa Maupin; and parents, Lem and Bernie. Her memory will live on in her children, Debbie Moore and husband, Thomas, Denise Sadler and husband, Ronnie, and Doug Maupin; daughter-in-law, Tonya Maupin; grandchildren, Jaime Fixico, Kristin Thompson, Steven Fixico, Megan Moore, Caleb Maupin, Kanyon Sadler, Mason Brand, and Jimmy Moore; great-grandchildren, Mattie, Brock, Kadence, Carter, Preslie, Keaton, and Peyton; and a host of other family members and friends.
The family will greet friends on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Kincannon Funeral Home. Online tributes may be made at www.kincannonfuneralhome.com.
