Doris Janet Thompson (Randolph) was called home by her Lord & Savior on January 17th, 2025, while a patient at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma.
Doris was born on December 30, 1935, in Altus to Leonard and Lucille Randolph joining big sister, Renetta and big brother, Bobby Joe. Doris was raised in Altus graduating from Altus High School in 1954.
Doris attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University graduating in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a minor in Athletics. One of her greatest memories was having to officiate the men’s intermural basketball games. She was 5’4” (generously) surrounded by 6’+ players.
On October 7, 1960, Doris and Bill Thompson joined in marriage. Bill’s work in the Air Force took them to Japan, Maine, and California (twice). In most of these locations, Doris taught grade school. When Bill retired in 1973, they made their home in Fairfield, California where Doris continued to teach, even after Bill’s death in 1982.
In June of 1988. Doris married Doyle Brewer. In the late 1990’s Doris retired and with Doyle moved to Yerington, Nevada. After Doyle’s death in 2009, Doris decided to return to Altus which she did in 2014. In Altus, she joined the First Methodist Church and enjoyed the renewal of old friendships as well as finding new friends.
