Dorothy Jo Crozier, lifetime resident of Eldorado, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, just 38 days shy of her 100th birthday. Dorothy Jo was born on April 2, 1925, to James Wilford “J.W.” and Effie Mae (Freeman) Richeson near Eldorado. Dorothy grew up in the Eldorado area and graduated from Lewis Hill School in 1943. After high school, Dorothy married Charles “Polk” Crozier on June 23, 1946 and they spent the next 61 years together until his death in 2007.
Polk and Dorothy raised four children in the Eldorado area and farmed together for 50 years. In addition to helping her husband farm, Dorothy also worked for the boat shop, the sewing factory, and later for Eldorado Public Schools until she retired. Dorothy was a faithful member of the Eldorado First Baptist Church for over 70 years.
Dorothy loved people and enjoyed being around them. She and her husband Polk, along with their children, cherished spending time with the Story and Adams families, and many other close friends and family. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking pies, garage sales, and playing cards. Her true happiness was found in God and her family. She treasured her family. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Preceded in death by her husband, Polk; sister, Verda Anders; brother, Melvin Richeson; children, Jimmy Crozier, Eddie Wayne Crozier, Linda “Diane” Crozier Ned, and Debbie Crozier Springs; granddaughter, Veronica Cortez; great grandsons, Adam Stephens and Tyler Mefford; and great-granddaughter, Kelli Jo Wright.
Left to honor her memory are her daughter in law, Kathy Crozier of Eldorado; grandchildren: Debbie Stephens of Oklahoma City, Jaycie Crozier Smith and husband, Chris of Oklahoma City, Lynda Carrell of Altus, Melanie Crozier of Mckinney, TX, Luke Kerr of Mangum, Jennifer White of Eldorado, Melissa Crozier of Sanger, TX, Maycie Crozier of Kansas City, MO, Emily Wright of Altus, Monica Crozier of Lawton, James Caldwell of Amarillo, TX, Angela Kirby of Altus, Shelly Springs Johnson and husband, David of Eldorado, and Tracy Springs and wife, Lisa of Eldorado; 19 great grandchildren; and 22 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will formally greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 4th, at the Kincannon Eldorado Chapel. Services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, 5th, at the Eldorado First Baptist Church with Pastor Jan Ivan Oden officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
