Dorothy DeFord, 91, Altus, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, August 23, 2019 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Dorothy Lorene Bryant was born October 12, 1927 to John Wesley David Bryant and Edna Gertrude "Gertie" (Burnley) Bryant in Commerce, Texas. She attended Altus Schools and had her 50th year reunion from Altus High School in 1996.
She married Harvey Hugh DeFord on October 11, 1947 in Vernon, Texas. They moved to Peoria, Illinois in 1950, where Harvey was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Company. Dorothy was employed by the Kroger Company. After their retirements, they returned to Altus. Dorothy was of the Baptist faith. She loved to cook, crochet, garden and spend time with her family and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Harvey, two sisters, Adell and Roma Nell; one brother Rick; one grandson Anthony DeFord and one great grandson Zane Dienst.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Dienst and husband Rodney of Toulon, Illinois; four sons, H. Dale DeFord and wife Suzy of Gainesville, Florida, Wesley DeFord and his wife Chris of Michigan, David DeFord and Russell DeFord, both of Altus, Oklahoma; One brother, Wesley Doyle Bryant and wife Simy of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren, Keith, Rick(Liz) and Kenneth (Jodi) Dienst and Wesley DeFord; five great grandchildren, Conner, Cecelia and Hunter Dienst, Alexandria and Rylee DeFord.
She was well loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
