Douglas Gail Lanford, 74, Duke, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Jay H. Farber and Eddie Beard officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Douglas was born on February 14, 1939 in the Russell Community, Oklahoma to Erby and Bula (Lankford) Lanford. He grew up and graduated from Centralvue High School in 1957. Doug married LeeAnn Dennis on November 21, 1958 at the Park Lane Church of Christ in Altus. In his earlier years, he worked for Pierce Paving and Construction, Perry Electric and also did custom wheat harvesting. He owned and operated Lanford Dozer and Construction Service since 1971. Doug served as the Jackson County Commissioner for District #3 from 1999 until 2007. He was a member of the Duke Church of Christ, where he was baptized in 1976. He served the church as a Bible School teacher, a song leader, and as the treasurer for many years. He served as the president for the Duke Riding Club for several years, the Duke School Board for twelve years, and was on the board for the Duke Farmers Coop Elevator. He farmed and ranched in Greer and Jackson County until his health declined in 2004. Doug enjoyed doing everything with his family, especially fishing, hunting, boating, skiing and horseback riding. He taught them about nature, the outdoors and how to enjoy life. His parents, a brother, Don, a brother-in-law, C. E. Dennis, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Colby and May Dennis, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, LeeAnn, of the home; two daughters, Tammy Gail Combs and husband, Kenny, and Tonyah Ann Johns and husband, Timmy, all of Duke, OK; four grandchildren, Timber Lee Trusty and husband, Blake, of Frederick, OK, Kanyon Kail Combs of Duke, OK, Tandy Braden Johns and fiancé, Morgan Turner, of Duke, OK, and Tommy Dennis Johns of Duke, OK; two sisters, Sue Wright and husband, Dr. John Wright, of Broken Arrow, OK, and Donna Kay Monroe and husband, Jerry, of the Russell Community, OK; a sister-in-law, Betty Lanford of Holly, CO; a toy poodle, Angus; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
