Major Edward M. Hickly (Mike), USAF (ret) went to be with his savior Lord Jesus on December 3rd, 2021. Arrangements are under the care of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Mike was born May 6th, 1943, in Pittsburgh, PA to Edward A. Hickly and Gertrude Chickos. He was a graduate of Oliver High School, North Texas State University, Golden Gate University, and the Air War College.
Mike was a 21-year veteran of the United States Air Force serving honorably from October of 1967 until his retirement in June of 1988. He saw combat in 1969 during the Vietnam War as a member of the “Nimrods,” flying bombing missions over the Ho Chi Min Trail. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, two Meritorious Service Medals, seven Air Medals, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor device, among numerous other medal and awards for his exemplary service.
In his retirement he enjoyed the outdoors of Montana and spending time with his grandkids. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Janice Hickly: son, Lieutenant Colonel Erik Hickly and daughter in law, Julia Hickly; daughters, Erin Jackson (Hickly) and son-in-law, David Jackson, and Elisa Martin (Hickly) and son-in-law, Bill Martin: as well as 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
