Edward James Hald, 76, of Altus, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 5, 2014 at Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Father Sundar officiating. Burial will follow at Altus City Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Edward James was born May 15, 1937 to Lester Marrian and Rosemary (Gillett) Hald in Omaha, Nebraska. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955 and retired as MSgt in 1976 after serving his country for 21 years. Edward married Hildegard Winkler on October 30, 1976 on the Altus Air Force Base. After retirement, he became a technician and installer of refrigeration and air conditioning units. He was currently the owner of Altus Refrigeration and AC Service. Edward loved his family and was a great husband, dad, and grandpa. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. Mr. Hald was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dorothy Davis. Edward is survived by his wife, Hildegard, of the home; one son, Michael J. Gras and wife, Mary Ellen, of Snyder, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Crystal Gilley and husband, Brent, Michael Gras, Jr., Mardi Gras, and Cristen Edgar and husband, Keith, all of Snyder, Oklahoma; six great-grandchildren, Allie Nicole, Riley James, Hallie, Stephanie, Kaylee, and Kyndall; one sister, Gloria Treveer and husband, Allen, of Lincoln, Nebraska; one sister-in-law, Maria J. Pierce of Altus, Oklahoma; four brothers-in-law, Kenny Davis of Omaha, Nebraska, Albert Winkler and wife, Traule, Seppel Winkler , Wolfgang Winkler and wife, Edith, all of Frankfurt, Germany; and a host of friends. The family will host a visitation for family and friends from 4:00 – 5:00 Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the Kincannon Funeral Home.
