Elizabeth Brown, 98, Altus, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the Altus City Cemetery with Robert Bowers officiating. Services have been entrusted to Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Elizabeth Mary "Ma" Brown was born August 21, 1919 to John and Cora (Whitlock) Moore in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma. Elizabeth graduated from Lone Wolf High School with the class of 1937. She and Oather Brown were united in marriage on October 17, 1941 and to this union three children were born. Elizabeth was a homemaker and an active volunteer at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital with the Ladies Auxiliary; enjoyed crocheting, basketball and football. Ma Brown was active with the Golden Girls and loved time spent with her family. Ma was a long time member of the Thomas Street Church of Christ / Tamarack Road Church of Christ and prayed for "more years helping people and doing what God has for me to do the rest of my life." Elizabeth was affectionately known to the congregation as "Ma Brown." She was very involved with church activities and volunteered at the Quartz Mountain Christian Camp.
Ma had attended Leadership Training for Christ with the youth group to help prepare meals for the participants. She had also worked at the Altus House by fixing the hair of residents.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oather; son, Douglas Brown; one sister and four brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Deanna Nason and husband, Virgil; Tamara Wagoner and husband, Rodger; grandchildren, Amy Nason Dempsey and husband, Ken and their children Connor, Collin and McKenna Dempsey; Todd Nason and wife, Sara, and their daughter, Anna Nason; and many other family members, friends and her church family.
Viewing for "Ma" Brown will be Monday, July 16, 2018 at Kincannon Funeral Home until 8 p.m. and again Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 8 a.m. until 9:15 a.m.
