Elton Carlyn Talley, 97, of Altus, OK passed away Thursday evening, March 15, 2012 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, OK. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Tamarack Road Church of Christ with Clint Burns officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Elton C. Talley was born June 23, 1914 to Elbert Cleveland and Effie Olevia (Higdon) Talley in Madill, Oklahoma. He graduated from Madill, OK and attended Oklahoma A & M, living in and becoming a member of the Farm House Fraternity. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics in 1937. He married Eunice Alta Truitt September 5, 1937 in Madill, Oklahoma. They were married for 73 years and 8 months. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served his country for two years. He soon afterwards moved to Altus, becoming a realtor and farmer in the area for over sixty years. He was a long time member of Tamarack Road Church of Christ, where he was a deacon and taught an Adult Bible Class for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eunice, one infant son, Timothy Talley, and one daughter, Marilyn Jean Talley. Mr. Talley is survived by two daughters, Teresa E. Talley and her friend, Jay Hirsch, of Tompkins Cove, New York, and Cynthia “Cynde” Holloway and her husband, Kenny, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one son, Patrick A. Talley of Olustee, Oklahoma; a grandson, Jeffrey Holloway, of Edmond, Oklahoma; a sister, Olevia Robinson of Altus, Oklahoma; a brother, Alan Talley of Federal Way, Washington; a sister-in-law, Helen Kenner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three nieces, Janet Kenner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Alicia Talley and husband Alan Smith of Federal Way, Washington; Ruth Smith and husband Randolph of Houston, Texas and a host of friends.
