Emma "Sunny" Brooks

Emma Lou “Sunny” Brooks, 83, Altus, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the English Village Manor. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 16, 2011 at the English Village Manor with Chaplain Mike Suiter officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Emma Lou Goines was born on July 25, 1927 in Vernonia, Oregon to Merle and Rita Mae (Hoerle) Goines. She married Robert Hastie in Reno, Nevada in June of 1948. She then married Stanley Brooks in 1962. Sunny worked as a bartender for most of her early years and then later studied and developed her talent as a portrait artist. She sold many commissioned works in the Portland, Oregon area and many still hang in homes and bank buildings. She was very talented and loved crafting, needlework, and cooking Italian food. Her husband, Stanley, and her daughter, Elovene Youngquist, preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter, Susan Cromwell of Salem, Oregon, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a sister, Shirley, and a special friend, Lee Kinnison and family, of Altus, Oklahoma.
