Eulan “Gary” Carter, 72, formally of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Altus City Cemetery with Tom Bailey officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Gary Carter was born November 28, 1941 to Eulan C. “Dick” and Ida Mae (Bussey) Carter in Altus, Oklahoma. He attended Altus Public Schools and graduated from Altus High School in 1959. Gary continued his education at Altus Jr. College and graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State College in 1963. He married Nancy A. Hughes November 29, 1963 in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Gary worked for United Supermarket from 1963-1966. He served our country from 1966-1968 and earned the rank of Sergeant in the United States Army. In 1968, Gary began working for Atmos Energy and continued his career as an accountant until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of the Northside Church of Christ in San Antonio, Texas and enjoyed being active in the Lord’s work there. He also volunteered his time and helped with the Habitat for Humanity in his area. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing. Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Ida Mae Carter, paternal grandparents, James Richard and Chalcie Doan (Wilkiey) Carter; maternal grandparents, Nathan G. and Cora (Russell) Bussey. Gary is survived by his wife, Nancy, of the home; one son, Mark Carter and his wife, Sharon, of San Antonio, Texas; two granddaughters, Amanda Carter and Emma Carter, of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Linda Holland Copeland of Yukon, Oklahoma and Donna Mae Seifried of Weatherford, Oklahoma; one brother, Jimmy Don Carter of Tuttle, Oklahoma; and a host of family and friends The Carter family will greet friends and family from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2014 at Kincannon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
