Frances Lucille Dalton was born May 4, 1918 to Zachariah H. and Wilma Leola (Hall) Dalton in Boswell, Oklahoma. She graduated from Bennington High School, Bennington, OK and later received her B.A. and Masters at Southeastern Oklahoma University. January 12, 1935, Lucille married Earl Taylor in Durant, Oklahoma. They moved to Altus in 1996 to be near their son. Earl passed away January 20, 2002 after 67 years of marriage.
Lucille grew up in the depression days, when times were hard. She worked on the farm with her dad and later with her husband as a sharecropper. Much of the later years, she worked as a secretary. She quit the milk business in 1958 and finished her college degree and taught special needs children for 19 years, winning many state and national awards for her innovative teaching techniques for special needs children.
