Frederick Henry "Fred" Curtis, 92, Altus, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Frederick Henry Curtis was born on September 28, 1925 in Van Buren, Arkansas to George Henry and Lorena (Pippen) Curtis. After graduating high school, Fred served in the Merchant Marines. He married Patricia Marie Stiles in Vernon, Texas on January 2, 1946. She passed away on September 11, 2001. Fred worked for many years at the Water Treatment Plant in Altus and was the supervisor when he retired. He also delivered butane for Kiker Butane and worked at Osborne's. Fred enjoyed riding his motorcycle and restoring old tractors.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, John Curtis, a granddaughter, Steffanie Kelly, a sister, Betty Edwards, and a son-in-law, Lynn Penington.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Lynn Curtis and Reta Penington; a daughter-in-law, Pam Curtis; a granddaughter, Melanie Mosher and husband, Randy; four great grandchildren, Hudson, Quinn, Coleton and Mason; a sister, Fran Reimer; and many other nieces and nephews.
The Curtis family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
