Frederick "Fred" Hancock, 60, Altus, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, with Rev. Craig Hancock officiating. Burial with military honors will be under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Frederick Hancock was born on September 20, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois to Eneth and Elmetric (Tilmon) Hancock. From that moment of birth he became a fan of "The Bears". He attended General H.H Arnold High School in Wiesbaden, Germany and graduated in 1975. After high school he received his Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from Bishop College in Dallas, TX and also became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. Right after college he commissioned in the United States Army and received a honorable discharge as a 2LT. He spent his last 20 plus years in Altus, OK, 15 of those years was spent with the Jackson County Sheriff Department. When he wasn't working at the Sheriff Department, he worked for the Parks Recreation Center for the City of Altus as a referee for basketball and baseball and surrounding counties. He also was a vendor at the Altus Air Force Base Commissary, in Altus, OK.
Survivors include two daughters, Eulanda and SSG Celise Hancock; two sons, Frederick Hancock and wife, Aleicia, and Joseph Jamal Hancock; two grandchildren, Layla and Malik; his parents, Eneth and Elmetric Hancock; three siblings, LtCol (Retired) Michael T. Hancock and wife, Mary, Cynthia Hancock-Smith and husband, MSG (Retired) Anthony Smith, and Eneth Hancock, Jr.; the mother of his children, Dorene Hancock; a niece, Nisheeda Hancock; a nephew, Michael Hancock, Jr.; and a great nephew, Cameron.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the funeral home.
