Frederick Roe Worbes, 74, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at his home in Altus. A private, family memorial will be held at a later date. Cremation services are under the care of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Frederick Roe “Fred” Worbes was born on March 22, 1948 in Altus, Oklahoma to William “Dub” and Gladys “Roelean” (Roach) Worbes. He grew up in Warren and graduated with the class of 1966. Fred married Pam Raasch on November 1, 1967 and to this union two children were born, Roe and Melisa.
Fred earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Southwestern State College in Weatherford and worked for the Department of Human Services. He also farmed family land northeast of Warren at Ignert Bend. Fred married Tonya Killian on December 1, 1990 in Altus. After 36 years of service, Fred retired from DHS in 2005 as the Social Service Supervisor. Later Fred worked as the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor for Altus Public Schools, retiring in 2015 due to his health. Fred enjoyed yard work including mowing and planting trees, traveling, riding 4-wheelers in the mountains with friends, hunting, noodling, and especially going to his grandkid’s sporting events, family cookouts and piddling with his trees.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Dub and Roelean; and his sister, Jaretha Magouyrk. Those left to honor Fred’s memory are his wife of 32 wonderful and adventurous years, Tonya; son, Roe Worbes and wife, Johna; daughter, Melisa Parsons and husband, David; grandchildren, Jacob Parsons and wife, Caitlyn, Shelby Worbes, Brekyn Worbes, and Bates Worbes; great grandson, Jayden Parsons; and a host of other family and friends.
