Gabriel "Gabe" Sanchez

Gabriel “Gabe” Sanchez, 60, of Altus, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in Garland, Texas. Rosary services are scheduled for 7:00 PM Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Kincannon Memorial Chapel. Funeral mass will be 11:00 AM Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Sundar officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Gabriel Sanchez was born on March 24, 1954 to Esteban and Elsie (Jimenez) Sanchez in Munday, Texas. He attended Altus Public Schools. He worked as a welder, roofer, a custom harvester and worked for K-P Construction. He was also a custodian at Central Junior High in Altus and in Abilene, Texas for many years. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time building and fixing up cars and trucks. He loved his Harley Davidson, Ford truck, OU football and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The highlight of his life was his family and especially his grandkids. His father, a daughter, Angelita, a sister, Estella, and four brothers, Pedro “Pete”, Jose “Joe” and Ricky Sanchez, and an infant brother, Herberto, preceded him in death. Survivors include his life partner, Sandy Beatty of Altus, OK, one son, Travis Beatty of Altus, OK; two daughters, Kimberly Barber and husband, Leonard, of Altus, OK and Candy Beatty of Altus, OK; three grandchildren, Lenny Barber, Cheri Barber and his special grandson was Zachary, whose nickname was “d’Artagnan” of the Three Musketeers; his mother, Elsie Sanchez of Altus, OK; three brothers, Canderlario Ybarbo of Fresno, CA, Esteban Sanchez, Jr. and wife, Amelia, of Lawton, OK and Tony Sanchez of Altus, OK; two sisters, Barbara Sandoval of Houston, TX and his special baby sister, Maria Guadalupe Hayes and husband, Cleo, of Lawton, OK; several nieces and nephews he loved dearly including his special nieces, Gloria Coleman and Penny Lane Sanchez; many great-nieces and great-nephews and one great-great-great niece, Kinnedy Lucia.
