Gary L. Moyer, 72, Blair, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Funeral services with full military honors will be 10:00 AM Thursday, February 9, 2012 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kevin Baker officiating. Cremation will follow services under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Gary was born on May 11, 1939 in Butler, Kentucky to Herbert Chesley and Hilda Mae (Craig) Moyer. He grew up in Butler and graduated from high school there. He enlisted into the US Army on January 31, 1957 and served for almost four years. He then entered the US Air Force on July 24, 1961. He served for 28 years and several tours to Vietnam. He worked as a weather equipment technician and retired on January 31, 1989 as a Senior Master Sergeant. Sergeant Moyer received numerous awards including the Air Force Commendation Medal with three bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor and three bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal with one silver Oak Leaf Cluster and two bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Silver Star and three Bronze Stars, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon with two bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with one silver Oak Leaf Cluster and one bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He married Sai Getthai in Udorn, Thailand on February 17, 1967. After his retirement, he worked for OK-1 Altus Athletic Manufacturing, making weight lifting equipment for local businesses. Gary was currently working for Wal-Mart as a greeter. He loved reading and, in his younger days, constructing model cars. He especially loved cutting and making his own beautiful jewelry. His parents, paternal grandparents, Earl Hicks Moyer and Hazel Reed, maternal grandparents, Stanley and Anna Craig, a brother, Dennis Moyer, and a sister, Rebecca “Becky” Moyer, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Sai, of the home; two daughters, Kularb Johnson of Tyler, TX, and Giane Maher and husband, Christopher, of Cameron, NC; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Malcolm, Alicsha, Landon, Nikkita, Salem, Nicholas and Brieanna; three great grandchildren, Cynthia, Erin and Ryan; three sisters, Cheryl Royalty of Paris, KY, Angie Cunningham of Florence, KY, and Beverly Graver of St. Petersburg, FL; and three brothers, Stanley “Buddy” Moyer of Middletown, OH, Herb “Toots” Moyer, Jr. of Batavia, OH, and Patrick Moyer of Hebron, KY. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
