Gary Ray Maddox, 62, Altus, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma. Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 28, 2018 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Boyd Whitehead officiating. Inurnment will be at 4:30 PM in the Old Midland Cemetery, Vanoss, Oklahoma, under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Gary Ray Maddox was born on February 28, 1956 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and is the son of George and Bonita Elizabeth (Bradley) Yuhas. He graduated from Stratford High School in 1974. Later Gary served in the US Army (Germany and Fort Sill, Oklahoma). Gary Ray Maddox married Roberta Lee Lovett on March 26, 1981, whom had two sons, Shane and Frank Serna. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and loved and cherished everything the church family has provided for him with bringing him closer to knowing Jesus. Gary enjoyed woodworking, fishing, riding his Harley, climbing mountains and listening to and playing music. He loved his family and was an official member of the Bradley gang of Vanoss, Oklahoma. He liked watching NASCAR in which Gary took part of building the Texas Motor Speedway. He had a great passion for life and the openness of exploring life to the fullest. He loved helping others. His most cherished items were his family, but Gary didn't want to lose the opportunity to take challenges and chances when he was given them. Gary lived his life to the fullest even if that meant living outside the box a little. Gary's outlook on life never held him back on teaching his sons what life was all about - even if that meant exposing them to what life's most negatives were (reality). If Gary would not have done that, his sons would not have turned out to be whom they are today.
He was preceded in death by wife, Roberta on October 5, 2004, and his mother, Bonita Elizabeth Yuhas, on March 24, 2015.
Survivors include his sons, Darrell Stone, Shane Serna and wife, Priscilla, and Frank Serna and wife, Amy; grandchildren, Jacob, Ruben, Brock, Chelsey and Tobie; his beloved father, George Yuhas; a beloved sister, Crystal Maddox; a beloved brother, Bradley Maddox; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, July 27, 2018 at the funeral home.
